About Me
Maria Gutierrez-Winder is the vice president of sales for SeaWorld San Diego, where she oversees all the marketing department sales disciplines, including AAA, military, in-market, business sales, special events, and travel industry sales. She assumed the position in 2018.
As vice president of sales, Gutierrez-Winder determines annual sales and revenue plans by implementing marketing strategies and analyzing trends and results. Her responsibilities also include establishing sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for staff and their territories and projecting expected sales and revenue for each account. Gutierrez-Winder also oversees the recruiting, selecting, and orienting of the sales staff. In addition, she has served as an official spokesperson for SeaWorld, making regular appearances on “Hoy” and “Primeras Noticias,” news programs which both air on Televisa in Mexico.
Gutierrez-Winder started her SeaWorld career in 1990. She moved her way up the sales ladder, becoming a senior sales representative in 2000, the sales manager in 2010, the senior sales manager in 2013, director in 2014, and vice president in 2018.
She currently serves on several tourism-industry committees, including the international committee for Visit California, the Trade committee for the San Diego Tourism Authority, Visit Anaheim, MANA de San Diego, and the U.S. Travel Association’s National Council of Attractions and Experiences.
Prior to SeaWorld, Gutierrez-Winder worked at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse in San Diego, where she managed the wait staff and assisted with catering sales.
Gutierrez-Winder graduated from Crawford High School in 1983 in San Diego and later studied business at the University of Phoenix. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
Gutierrez-Winder is married and lives in Santee with her husband, who also works at SeaWorld. She has five grown children and in her spare time, she enjoys camping, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
