How do you rank higher on OTAs? While tour, activity and attraction operators are often advised to focus on tour descriptions, good photos and reviews, there are other factors that are sometimes overlooked.
Recently at Arival 360 | Orlando, I sat down with Isaac Paton Nicolau, founder of Spanish-language tours and activities online travel agency (OTA) Guias.travel, to get his perspective on what operators can do to get found online and show up higher on OTA rankings.
For OTAs specifically, while good photos and tour descriptions are commonly cited as important, Nicolau shared that from his perspective, availability is also a key factor that is often overlooked when it comes to ranking.
“From an OTA perspective I think that a super important point is to have a high availability even more than a big commission,” explaining that he will prioritize in the ranking an operator with daily availability and a lower commission over an operator paying a higher commission but with tours only a couple of times a week.
Nicolau also shared that for multi-language OTAs, offering your tours, activities and experiences in multiple languages can also help with ranking higher.
