About Me
Some 20 years ago, Paul gave up a career as a surveyor and founded The Wilderness Group equipped with nothing more than a second hand Land Rover and a third hand laptop. He didn’t have any idea how to run a travel business but was driven by a mission to share his passion for the wild places. Some two decades on and the Wilderness Group, based from a zero carbon HQ in the Cairngorms National Park, now operates throughout the UK and Ireland. The business has been named the No.1 Adventure Travel Company in Europe by National Geographic, the Best Green Tour Operator in the World Travel Awards and one of the UK’s Best Workplaces. In 2019, Wilderness Scotland joined forces with Ski Solutions to create the Active Travel Group (“ATG”) and bring together some of the leading adventure travel companies in the UK. The Active Travel Group now includes six brands providing human powered adventures across the globe for some 25,000 travellers a year. In his current role, Paul is the Chief Sustainability Officer of the ATG.
