These are just some of the questions we seek to answer when we conduct consumer research of travelers. Our latest consumer research on the U.S. traveler shows experiences in general are on the rise as a priority for travelers: they are spending more on in-destination experiences, booking an average of seven experiences per trip, even deciding where to go based on the tours, activities and attractions they want to experience.
Experiences-focused online travel agency (OTA) GetYourGuide recently conducted a similar study, finding similar results among European travelers. Nearly half of the segment of “Modern Travelers” — defined as travelers focused on immersive, authentic and unique experiences — said they plan to spend more or much more on travel activities vs. past trips.
