Across Asia, Most Operators Remain Unplugged

Use of modern online booking systems among tour, activity and attraction suppliers across Asia Pacific continues to trail the global average

Travel experiences in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region are experiencing rapid growth as borders reopen and demand increases. 

Online bookings are also projected to increase, with over 30% of all bookings in the sector being made online by 2025, up from 17% in 2019, particularly driven by younger travelers in the region who prioritize unique and immersive experiences that can be easily discovered and booked through mobile platforms.

However, adoption of modern online booking systems remains particularly low among experience suppliers in APAC, who trail the global average, according to Arival’s recent Technology & Connectivity Report

These adoption rates are likely overstated, as operators that responded to the online survey are already more likely to be using some forms of online technology to run their business than their fully offline counterparts. 

Tour, activity and attraction suppliers without booking systems cannot sell online and connect efficiently with distributors. As more travelers book their travel experiences online it’s essential that experience operators in Asia get online and get connected… or get left behind.
