About Me
Stephen Marks is currently a managing partner of Bike and Roll DC, a bicycle and Segway tour and bicycle rental company with two locations in the Washington Metropolitan area. The company is finishing its 17th year of business. His roles include business development, team-building, leadership development, tour supervision, partner initiatives, product development, and long term business planning. He purchased Bike the Sites in 2003 and has overseen the growth of the company from 4500 participants in 2003 to over 49000 participants in 2019. Additionally, he has facilitated the development and growth of the Bike and Roll national marketing campaign. Under his guidance, Bike and Roll DC was transformed from a small local business to an integral part of a nationally recognized brand.
Stephen has guided the involvement of Bike and Roll DC in a number of tourism-related groups. He has been a member of The Washington Area Concierge Association (WACA), Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association, Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association (ACVA), also serving on their Board of Governors, Cultural Tourism DC and Destination DC. Within Destination DC he has served on the Executive Board and currently is a member of the Executive Committee. He has also been a member of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA).
Prior to running Bike and Roll, Mr. Marks worked in a family printing business in Vienna, VA for 13 years. He began as a plant employee, quickly became the lead salesperson, and was ultimately appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 1998. He helped orchestrate a merger with a larger company in 2003. Mr. Marks has also worked in the student travel/education field where he promoted travel and study programs in Israel.
