About Me
Katie Vandergriff lives for variety, and chocolate. Educated as a Mechanical Engineer, she developed robotic systems for 17 years at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She is a fellow with the American Society of Engineers. Her varied interests have resulted in serial entrepreneurship, and her activities have included travel addict, wedding director, movie producer, Abrams tank driver, lifeguard, photographer, and homeschool mom. Her life goal is to break down outdated stereotypes surrounding disability. She and her family use their travel photography business, Downs & Towns, LLC as an advocacy platform to inform and educate. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Katie Vandergriff lives in a 140-year-old farmhouse in Tennessee. She resides with her son, Houston, her husband, David, two cats, and 15 pet chickens. Their two adult daughters live close by. As a breast cancer survivor and an ever-optimistic Enneagram 7, she is always on the lookout for the next fun thing.
