Arival initiated its Coronavirus Pulse on March 8, 2020, to measure the effects of the outbreak and widening travel restrictions on tour, activity and attraction operators worldwide.

Arival has received 1,175 qualified responses between March 8 and April 30, 2020. Survey respondents represent all sectors of tours, activities, and attractions, including small and large operators from around the world. Arival fielded this survey with the help of the following partners: bookingkit, FareHarbor, GetYourGuide, GlobalTix, Local Food Adventures, Peek, Rezgo, Tourpreneur, Trekksoft, Viator, and Walks.

The rapid and unforeseen growth of the coronavirus outbreak and ensuing restrictions on travel worldwide have dramatically and suddenly changed the outlook for travel and tourism in 2020 and beyond. The impact on operators of tours, activities and attractions has been deep, painful, and will take years to recover.

This report, available for free from Arival, provides detailed metrics on the following:

  • Cancellations
  • Business performance in 2020
  • Operator sentiment and risk of business failure
  • Actions operators are taking to weather the crisis
  • Status of government aid
