Three Types of Multi-Day OTAs
OTAs for multi-day tours fall into three broad categories:
- Package tour OTAs, which offer pre-organized, scheduled group departures.
- Custom trip OTAs, which provide a service to design personalized private tours.
- Specialty OTAs, which may provide either pre-organized or custom tours but focus on a specific type of tour, such as wellness, adventure or cycling.
We explain each in more detail below, but many OTAs may offer tours that fit into more than one category. In those cases, we’ve grouped the OTA according to the type of tours it focuses on the most.
While we’ve conducted extensive research to make this guide as up-to-date and thorough as possible, there may be companies we’ve missed. Please note that no company has paid to be included in this list. Our aim is to help you navigate these options and find the best fit for your business. If you know of a distribution company specializing in the multi-day tour sector that should be included, please let us know.
What’s Not Included
Packaged holidays. There is one very common type of multi-day trip which we have excluded here. This is the classic vacation package, or as it’s commonly referred in the U.K., the package holiday. These types of trips generally feature just transportation and accommodations, and they are unescorted. We have also excluded OTAs such as Expedia, lastminute, TravelBag and others that focus on package holiday sales.
Travel agencies and consortia. We have excluded travel agencies and consortia. Although travel agencies and networks such as Virtuoso, Signature Travel and many others play a major role in multi-day tour distribution, this directory focuses on online travel agencies and distributors that principally transact online.
Tours & Activities OTAs. Some travel sites focused on single-day tours, activities and attractions, such as Viator and GetYourGuide, also offer some organized multi-day tours and experiences. Tripadvisor, Viator’s parent company, also enables multi-day tour companies to list their company and tours.
1. Package Tour OTAs
These OTAs aggregate scheduled multi-day tours. Packaged tours have pre-set travel dates and itineraries. These tours may be operated by both outbound and inbound tour operators. They may or may not include air travel to the tour’s point of departure.
TourRadar is one of the oldest and largest OTAs, working with more than 2,000 operators. Others include Spain’s Exoticca, Denmark’s Bookmundi and the U.K.’s TourHub. These sites operate as OTAs, handing the transaction and payment and charging a commission to the tour operators.
TravelStride and TourHound focus more on search, although TravelStride has begun accepting bookings like an OTA. These websites aggregate tours from tour operator websites and link directly to the tour page on the operator website for a referral fee.
Are package tour OTAs right for your tour business?
If you run scheduled tours with pre-set travel dates and itineraries, and you are comfortable with the terms, conditions and commissions, which range from 15% to well over 20%, then you may want to consider working with some of these OTAs to reach more customers.

2. Custom Trip OTAs
This is a newer type of OTA that offers online custom trip planning through travel agencies, local tour operators and DMCs (destination management companies) in the destination. The largest is Paris, France-based Evaneos, which says it works with more than 2,000 operators across 160 destinations and has raised $109 million in venture funding. U.S.-based kimkim and Berlin, Germany-based Tourlane are also leading custom trip OTAs.
However, the online custom trip planning space is an increasingly crowded one. We have identified more than dozen such companies, and TourRadar has also stepped into the space with its own custom trip offering.
Are custom trip OTAs right for your tour business?
If you offer custom incoming, receptive trip services, such as itinerary planning and booking of in-destination transportation, accommodation and activities, custom trip OTAs may be a good option for you to get more bookings. They typically offer an extranet and tools to manage your bookings. Expect to pay a commission to the OTA.

Before You Sign Up: A Few Tips
The online marketplace for multi-day tour OTAs is diverse, but every operator should do your homework before you make the commitment and take the time to sign up with a new OTA. Here are a few things to research (and AI tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini can help source this information for you quickly):
- Do the commercial terms work for your business? Review their terms and conditions around payments, cancellations and other practices to ensure they can work for your business.
- Do they have a good rep? Ask other operators if they have worked with them before and what their experience has been. Also check online forums with fellow operators on Facebook, and traveler forums on Reddit to check the OTA’s reputation.
- Does the team give you a good vibe? The one thing a GPT won’t help with – do you get a good feeling from the people. Take the time to speak to a team member from the company. Are they willing to speak and sell you on the business, or are they too busy? Will they provide support when there’s an issue? A quick call with a real person can go a long way.
- Will they deliver bookings? This, at the end of the day, is what matters most. All of these companies are privately held and we have not checked booking volume with all of these companies. But you can check with others who are listed on them, and also check online web traffic tools such as Similarweb to see what kind of traffic they get. (However, keep in mind that startups always start small. It may be worthwhile getting in early, especially if you believe in the business and like the team.)
