Information
For the last one hundred years tour buses have provided the transport platform for tour operators offering urban and rural experiences. Within the next few years transport is evolving with the introduction of autonomous vehicles with no drivers. In this session we will discuss what they are and how you can incorporate these vehicles into your business.
Ideal for tour bus owning tour operators (who will all transition to autonomous vehicles over time) & city based tour operators who don't currently operate vehicles, who can use publicly available robotaxis to operate new experiences incorporating their own tour guides.
Session leader Alex Bainbridge is the former CEO of TourCMS, the leader in bus sightseeing retail & distribution technology, the foundations for sightseeing companies like Gray Line. His new business, Autoura, operates tourist experiences using autonomous vehicles in 4 US cities.
Why it matters
Urban tour operators will either adopt or compete with autonomous vehicles offering digital tourism & hospitality experiences. This is not science fiction but current reality, robotaxis are now available in 20 cities worldwide, including 6 in the US. Product innovation is a tougher transition than the retail & distribution transition of the last 20 years, come to this session and discuss your transition plans with your peers.
