About Me

Originally from the UK, I am based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I run a boutique tourism consulting and sales representation company, Pear Anderson. Since arriving in Southeast Asia over 10 years ago, I have immersed myself thoroughly into the Southeast Asian travel industry through both B2C and B2B tourism industry roles, from building up outbound travel at one of the largest travel agencies in Malaysia, to founding my own travel startup Tripoov, which was subsequently acqui-hired by Malaysian travel technology company, GoQuo. I have criss-crossed Southeast Asia and gained a deep, first-hand insight into the trends developing in the region, as well as a passion for the potential of the Southeast Asian tourism industry. Since March 2020, I have published a free weekly report, The Impact of COVID-19 on the SE Asian Tourism Industry, which tracks the devastating effect that COVID-19 has had on the region, and is read by thousands of tourism professionals across the world. My past and present clients include a variety of travel organisations, from tourism boards to attractions and tour operators, with the likes of Visit Britain, the Catalan Tourist Board, London Designer Outlet, Go West, Pilatus-Bahnen and Absolute Asia Travel. I have authored reports and whitepapers on tourism, and have spoken on numerous occasions at prestigious travel conferences such as ITB Asia. My reports have been cited in publications such as Forbes Middle East, Web in Travel, TTG Asia, and Travel Weekly Asia, and I have been interviewed by international media such as BBC World News and the Phnom Penh Post. I am co-host of podcast The South East Asia Travel Show, a Member of the Mekong Tourism Advisory Group, and an Associate for MIDAS Aviation.

This Conference Code of Conduct shares our community expectations and applies to all attendees, employees, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and other participants at Arival- produced and sponsored events. Severe breaches of this Conference Code of Conduct may result in disqualification from participating in future events. Individuals expelled due to violating this Conference Code of Conduct will not be eligible for a refund or other consolation.
