New GetYourGuide Features Aim to Make Changes to Tour Listings Easier

The changes from GetYourGuide address faster changes to product listings and providing pricing through a booking system API.

At Arival we regularly receive press releases from companies who want to attract the attention of the operators. We never have and never will be a mouthpiece for press releases (you’re welcome).

Recently, however, one caught our eye: GetYourGuide (GYG) announced two enhancements on features operators have long requested from online travel agencies (OTAs):

  • “Instant Go-Live” addresses long wait times for content changes and new tour listings;
  • “Price Over API” responds to the need for better pricing update functionality.

Instant Changes for Content & New Listings

GYG initially launched “Instant Go-Live”  in April 2022. With this feature, when operators make changes to  titles, descriptions and highlights of their product listings via the GYG extranet, those are immediately live. Previously, operators would have to wait for an internal approval process, which would mean a longer wait time before those changes would appear on the live website.

With the latest announcement in October 2022, GYG is adding the ability to create new experience listings instantly. Currently this feature is live for about half of the operators on the platform, and should be made available for all operators “in the near future.”

Some more complex changes, such as location updates, will still need to go through the GYG internal team.

Automatic Pricing Updates with “Price Over API”

GYG’s new Price Over API functionality means that operators will no longer have to manually update their pricing each time it changes. Price Over API enables GYG to pull that information directly from operators’ reservation technology providers, or “Connectivity Partners.”

Currently there are about 40 GetYourGuide Connectivity Partners offering this feature via their API, or application programming interface.
