Lauren Herpich, founder and owner of Local Food Adventures in Oakland, California, knows a thing or two about getting travelers interested in history: scrumptious treats!

Herpich specializes in operating food tours that highlight the city’s unique history, architecture and, of course, delicious, off-the-beaten path dining establishments. While Herpich stands out by focusing on the history of Oakland, her company is also unique because she runs a tour that caters to her littlest customers—a one-hour kid’s tour that visits three different ice cream and gelato stops. (Typically her tours for adults last three hours.)
