Youth Traveler Trends in Asia Pacific for Tours & Activities

Dive into new youth traveler research in the Asia Pacific region.

The marketplace in Asia is incredibly complex and diverse. Behaviors of travelers from New Zealand versus Japan; Indonesia versus China, vary incredibly. Adding to the complexity is the huge variety of inbound travelers to Asia Pacific from places like the U.S. and Europe.

And then there’s the rising travelers in Asia such as millennials and Gen Z who don’t want to travel the same way their parents did—the types of travelers who want to explore new places different than their parents did.

For this research deck, originally presented at Arival Asia Pacific in Bangkok, Arival partnered with WYSE Travel Confederation to research the habits of 50,000 youth travelers around the world who traveled in Asia. Key data points from the findings about youth travelers include:

  • They engage in an average of 6-7 tours, activities and attractions per trip.
  • They are interested in both experiences and traditional attractions.
  • They are more likely to book activities on their mobile phone versus in person.
