Senior Guest Experience Tour Guides

Summary/Purpose of Position: This position is responsible for helping guests with admissions and purchases made, processing guest transactions, maintaining a clean and organized environment, training new staff, and performing guided tours of Fossil Rim. The position is also responsible for supervising the Front Gate operations, tours, and staff scheduling when the Tours Manager is unavailable.

Specific/ Mandatory Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Senior Guest Experience Tour Guide will include, but are not limited to the following:

Guest Experience Administration

  • This position is responsible for ensuring a positive guest experience through guest service at the admission office and through the performance and quality of the guided tours.
  • In the absence of the Guest Experience Tours Manager, this position will be responsible for the opening and closing procedures of the Front Gate Admission and Tours area of the park
  • This position will help to ensure the accuracy of the Tours calendar for the tracking of reservations, staff, and vehicles for the operation of guided tours and safari shuttles
  • Assist the area manager in the training of new staff members and the continuing quality and expertise of current front gate/tours staff.
  • Represent Fossil Rim with professionalism and provide excellent service to Fossil Rim’s customers
  • Must be certified in driving tour vehicles and giving guided tours

Volunteers

  • Assist in the training of new volunteer drivers
  • Work closely with the Volunteer Program Supervisor with regard to training and scheduling of volunteers and tour guides

Teamwork

  • Provide the Tours Manager with up to date information so tours are of the highest quality and educational experience, and tours represent Fossil Rim’s core mission in the best ways possible
  • The Tour Manager will work closely with the Education Department for the environmental interpretation training on the tours and will work closely with the Education Department to ensure that all tour information and training is up-to-date. All changes and updates will be passed on to the Senior Guest Experience Tour Guide for dissemination to the staff and guides
  • Work with all departments to meet the need with regard to tours for special events, camps, special functions, etc.

General

  • This position will be scheduled to work weekends and holidays
  • Regular and dependable attendance is required
  • Neat and professional appearance as per the FRWC Employee Manual

The Secondary Responsibilities of the Senior Guest Experience Tour Guides include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Be prepared to assist the Tours Manager in presenting the company’s tours operations, and help with events at public venues such as various clubs, trade shows, industry conferences, public meetings, etc.
  • Assist with timely provision of information about Guest Service Tours Department activities and programs to those associated with Fossil Rim’s marketing, development, website, operations, etc.
  • Be prepared to fill in for the Tours Manager as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Experience, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to communicate and interact well with staff, interns, and visitors
  • Experience in creating training programs is a plus
  • Computer literate with applicable computer platforms; able and willing to learn specialized applications
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to be resourceful and can work independently
  • Accuracy in record keeping
  • Clean record in cash handling

Work Requirements:

  • Usually a 5-day work week, 40 hours per week, often requiring flexibility and ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Adherence to and understanding of Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, corporate procedures and policies, departmental mission and goals, and Fossil Rim mission, values and goals
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work outside for several hours at a time in weather ranging from extreme heat (100°F+) to extreme cold (±0°F) and in wet conditions
  • Good driving record
