Senior DevOps Engineer

Viator is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with experience working with high volume transactional websites to join our team. This role operates in a fast moving environment with a product and platforms that are growing and changing rapidly. You will be experienced in bootstrapping infrastructure from scratch – creating performant, autoscaling and self-healing systems. The ideal candidate will have solid background in Linux and TCP/IP network fundamentals, have automation at heart and be comfortable with coding in higher level languages like bash and python.Our engineering team is based in Oxford United Kingdom, Lisbon Portugal, and Sydney Australia, backed by a global ops team dedicated to the wider engineering team. We deliver the Viator and Tripadvisor Experiences production and development environments, infrastructure components and automation systems.

What you will do

  • Manage high volume transactional workloads in AWS and self-hosted on-premise
  • Promote the DevOps culture across our organisation
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on projects and to improve the operational readiness of product features
  • Develop, maintain, and support flexible solutions that require little to no maintenance
  • Identify opportunities for CI/CD improvements to automate time-intensive or repetitive tasks
  • Together with the team, share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents

What we are looking for

  • Previously in a Senior DevOps Engineer role or 3 years+ in a DevOps Engineer role
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work in a complex environment, to handle dependencies, and communicate across teams
  • Operating and supporting multi layered web application architecture and infrastructure
  • Configuration and maintenance of applications such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases, NoSQL data stores, storage systems and messaging systems
  • Observability and monitoring with APM, traces, logging, metrics, visualisations and alerting
