Special Events Manager – Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure – Lake Lure
Job Summary:
The Special Events Manager is responsible for all duties related to planning, executing and review of company sponsored events. Formulates innovative event concepts, establishes contacts, and schedules engagements. Manages event execution from start to finish, including event proposals, contracting, planning stages and post-event communication. Must be highly responsive to answering all inquiries and identifying new business opportunities.
Essential Job Duties:
Responsible for planning, budgeting, and coordinating of events and ensuring the implementation of applicable safety and security measures.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers for goods and services.
Meet, consult, and brainstorm with prospective and existing vendors on their event concepts including, but not limited to, meetings, parties, conferences and more.
Provide event proposals and negotiate contracts with vendors.
Prepare event cost estimates and verify final event invoice for Accounting.
Supervise vendors, partners, sponsors, and exhibitors at events during set-up and execution of the program.
Participate in weekly internal production meetings and coordinate event logistics.
Communicate event details to all departments to ensure the highest level of service and a successful event.
Other Duties:
Assist with other Marketing initiatives and special projects as needed.
Compile event photos for social media and website.
Perform other related duties as directed.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a hospitality, events, or sales industry.
Minimum 2-3 years of event experience preferably with club or resort experience.
Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, drive and motivation.
Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
Strong leadership skills and ability to assume greater responsibility.
Proficient in computer programs to include Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet tight deadlines and be extremely detailed to work on contracts, itineraries, communication, etc.
Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to talk, hear and speak with others using clear and professional language.
Must be able to read and follow written and oral instructions to ensure proper boat usage and equipment handling.
Must be able to endure long periods of sitting, standing or working in Western NC climate (heat, humidity, cold, damp).
Will be occasionally required to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.
Must be able to climb (stairs/ladders), reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel.
Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
