The Job
The San Bernardino County Museum offers an exciting opportunityfor a dynamic Curator of Integrated Science who will manage all aspects of exhibits, program development, and collections management related to the museum’s biology, natural science, environmental science, or other integrated science collections.
The Integrated Science Curator is responsible for supervising the biology, natural science, environmental science, and all integrated science collections by recording, promoting, and interpreting objects related to the natural, living environment of the Inland area. This position will also manage preparation and preservation related to specimens and artifacts; oversee education and exhibit programs utilizing the collection, provide interpretive content to volunteers and seasonal workers; assist in grant proposals and oversee awards, gifts, and bequests; and direct activities related to research, publications, and record-keeping.

The San Bernardino County Museum is located in Redlands and contains exhibits and collections in cultural history and natural history. As part of the museum experience, there are public programs available for adults, families, students, and children. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment and must be maintained along with proof of liability insurance.
Availability: Incumbents will be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an Integrated Science such as Biology, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, or Environmental or Earth Science; or closely related field.
–AND–
EXPERIENCE: (must meet one of the following Options)
Option A: One (1) year curator experience in integrated science, which includes collection management, interpretive programming, and supervision of professional, technical, or volunteer staff.
Option B: Two (2) years of professional experience with integrated science with primary responsibility as a researcher, lecturer, preparing exhibits, handling specimens, and/or working with collections, including significant public interaction and interpretive programming.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in an Integrated Science, and five (5) years of experience managing an Integrated Science collection and programming in a museum setting.
