Manager Museum Operations – Cherokee Nation Businesses – Tahlequah
Job Description
SUMMARY
Oversee operations of multiple museum locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Ensures staff at various sites receive training necessary to ensure visitors are treated in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Oversees Museum and interpretive center financials and business operations.
- Coordinates with several CNB departments such as facilities, cultural tourism program and events, and exhibit staff to ensure museum maintains a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Oversees site staff to ensure all deposits, financials, and inventory management protocols are followed.
- Ensures all sites comply with local, tribal, and federal laws and regulations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
Supervise/manage department and provide input towards hiring/firing/performance decisions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or other related field and 7 to 10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience identifying alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting. May require travel.
