Business Marketing Coordinator

Job Title: Business Marketing Coordinator, One Year Term position

Location of Position. Corner Brook, NL

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Rate of Pay: $42,500. /per annum

Job Description: The Business Marketing Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the marketing, growth and production of Qalipu First Nation content for the Bay FM Radio Station. The coordinator will also be responsible for assisting our member owned businesses in improving their marketability and communication via social platforms, as well as offering business spotlights over the radio and online.

Position Reports to: While expected to work closely with the Business Development Officer, the Tourism Development Officer, and Bay FM, this position reports directly to the Manager of Tourism and Community Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, distribute, and edit content/news stories for radio, website, newsletter, social media, and other content as directed.
  • Develop marketing materials including posters, brochures, flyers, business cards, and other materials as required.
  • Develop advertising packages with Tourism/Business Development team and Bay FM for Qalipu Business Network and Experience Qalipu members.
  • Ensure that communications and marketing material align with brand standards.
  • Support media relations including writing and development of media materials
  • Work with Bay FM team in the development and execution of communication strategies and marketing plans.
  • Create and execute a social media calendar upcoming events hosted by QFN, Qalipu Business Network members and Experience Qalipu Members.
  • Prepare weekly email newsletter for Experience Qalipu and Qalipu Business Network.
  • Support or manage the coordination of events.
  • Photography and videography.
  • Support community engagement planning and delivery.
  • Develop ad copy and graphics.
  • Monitor daily online and traditional news services to remain current on information relevant to Qalipu Business Network and Experience Qalipu.
  • Work with IT to develop and maintain web pages and e-mail databases.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy while collecting and recording information.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of the internal operations and activities of the Nation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Completion of a Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or Business Administration.

Experience: Two years in a marketing-related role.

Working Conditions: This role is primarily office based. However, the Business Marketing Coordinator will be expected to attend events outside of the office on behalf of Qalipu First Nation. Some travel and overtime may be required.

Employee Benefits:

Annual Leave: Three weeks per year.

Statutory and Non-Statutory Holidays: Employees are entitled to 13 days off to cover Statutory and Non-statutory holidays per year.

Summer Office Hours: Office hours during the summer months are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The schedule starts the first long weekend in May and continues until the last week of September.

Christmas Break: The office closes during the Christmas break; this is an added bonus that employees are entitled to.

Family & Medical Leave: Twelve paid sick and family medical days per year.

Under 2 hours Medical Appointment: Employees may attend an appointment of less than 2 hours with no deductions to Sick and Family Medical.

Discretionary Bereavement: One day off per year for the death of a relative not included as immediate family, a close friend or neighbor.

Volunteer Program: Employees may volunteer outside of the organization up to 21 hours per year.
