Provide a dynamic guest experience in a variety of settings by demonstrating accurate job performance, delivering exceptional customer service, and promoting fun energy, and enthusiasm.

  • As a team member, exemplify and promote Zoo Knoxville’s core values through interactions with guests and fellow team members (Care, Respect, Integrity, Education, Serve, Fun).
  • Provide excellent guest experience by consistently delivering high-level customer service and responding to guest inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Welcome Zoo guests in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Assist in providing a safe and positive work environment for team members and guests.
  • Demonstrate and enforce all Zoo policies and procedures.
  • Regularly staff Rides & Attractions, areas to include: Carousel, Train, Soaring Eagle, Splash Pad, and other areas as needed.
  • Learn and retain necessary components of multiple Point-of-Sale software systems.
  • Handle an accurate cash drawer and provide correct change.
  • Operate ride in safe manner, following all safety operations instructions and protocols.
  • Make sure all guests meet ride requirements and enforce safety rules.
  • Provide daily inspections and maintain daily maintenance and safety records for ride.
  • Monitor operations of the rides continuously and notify the appropriate personnel of any problems or unusual conditions.
  • Take pride in your area by maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of all work areas and surrounding public spaces.
  • Present a professional and neat appearance at all times, following Zoo dress code policy. A nametag will be worn at all times when representing this position.
  • Assist with training as needed.
  • Potential to cross-train and perform duties of Admissions roles as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Some attractions require the associate to be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must demonstrate and promote a team atmosphere while supporting a friendly and efficient workforce and working with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Dependable and honest with a positive attitude.
  • Proficient cash handling skills preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors, sitting or standing as directed, in varying temperatures and weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Must be available some nights, weekends, and holidays.

As an employee of Zoo Knoxville, you must possess English communication skills as well as the ability to communicate using a 2-way radio, email, and telephone. The position hours vary depending on business needs and will require weekend and some holiday shifts. Depending on the specific tasks, this position will be required to work within close proximity of exotic and domestic animals and must be aware that there are dangers inherent in working under those conditions. Zoo Knoxville is committed to maintaining a drug free workplace and as such each employee must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
