Domestic Development Coordinator- Shore Excursions – American Queen Voyages – Easton
POSITION SUMMARY
The Domestic Development Coordinator is responsible for the research, development and implementation of all domestic shore excursions. This position will research local tour opportunities, build relationships with vendors and port contacts, create timing, itinerary and tour details and work with tour providers, guides and local vendors to ensure the full vision of the excursion is realized. In addition to new excursion development, this position will maintain a “book of business” and, working with others on the team, will regularly audit and analyze existing tours for continuous improvement of offerings. This role is required to provide all necessary details, contracts, pricing and information to the supporting departments to ensure the final operation of the tour is completed flawlessly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researching prospective attractions and ports to assess whether it will fit with our vision and standards and developing excursions using the tour development process from start to finish
- Editing and reviewing all necessary marketing documentation for assigned regions to ensure accuracy and that the “soul” has been captured
- Ensuring all web-based information source (AQV/Shore Excursions) is accurate for assigned regions
- Consistently updates the project tickets in the shared project management software program
- Creating and maintaining vendor relations and ensuring all vendors feel as though they are a valued partner
- Negotiating mutually beneficial reduced pricing, which fit in our budgets
- Utilizing excel to create and modify profitability spreadsheets for each excursion to keep an accurate portrayal of our potential profit and loss
- Updating and maintaining Viatour, the shared database which stores all pertinent information for every excursion, vendor, attraction, guide, etc.
- Drafting and sending contracts to all assigned vendors and ensuring that our dates and terms are agreed on
- Updating training template for any new excursion to ensure all parties have an accurate understanding of the product
- Auditing all aspects of the assigned regions – including sending and assessing comment cards, asking for feedback, checking in with other departments, cold calling vendors, etc.
- Assisting with Deviations and Itinerary Changes in these regions as needed
- Having a full understanding of all programs in assigned regions and remaining a reliable resource for those in question remain up to date on the day-to-day projects of all team members.
- Miscellaneous duties as required by management
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Education:
- Associate Degree required
- Bachelor’s Degree desirable
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office and Excel, at expert level is required
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and efficiency
- Ability to work in fast-paced, quickly changing environment
- Must be detail-oriented and extremely organized
- Must be willing to accept changes of direction in work and priorities with a positive attitude
- Must be a proactive, creative thinker and constantly think ahead to better serve our customers, both internal and external
Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in related/relevant role
- Travel/tourism, hospitality and/or cruise industry experience strongly preferred
Other:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing
