Position Summary

The Museums Fellow will serve alongside the Museum team to support the day-to-day operations, programs, and events of the museum. JAARS operates The Museum of the Alphabet on its property. The Museums Fellow will learn how to train new staff, coordinate schedules, organize events, manage the archives, maintain the current museum collection, and may design and implement a new museum program to encourage engagement.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and host tours for guests
  • Organizes and works at special museum events and outreaches, such as JAARS Day and Night at the Alphabet Museum
  • Design programs that encourage curiosity and deeper engagement in visitors
  • Learns how to work with volunteers and manage operations of a museum
  • Assists with caring for and maintaining the collections
  • Organizes archival documents and learns to manage the archives

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Preferred
    • Working experience with Google suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)
    • Majors include Education, Anthropology, History, Museum Studies, Administration, Event Planning, Arts, English, Writing, and Library Science
